3 HOW IT WORKS
See figure 3. A string box combines multiple PV stings to
two solar inputs. The CS15TL/CS20TL inverts the DC
solar inputs to one 3-phase 3 x 400 V AC output. Both
inputs and output are filtered from voltage ripples. For the
operating voltage range refer to the specifications. The AC
outputs are connected in a 400 V AC three-phase delta
configuration. An isolation transformer between the
inverter and the grid is an option. Anti- islanding is
provided according to national standards. If one of the
phases of the AC grid fails in operation, the
CS15TL/CS20TL will switch off immediately. Extended
diagnostics via remote monitoring may be ordered as an
option.

3.1 WORKING PRINCIPLE OF THE
CS15TL/CS20TL
See figure 3. The CS15TL/CS20TL converts the energy
from a PV array and feeds this energy back to the electric
grid. The electrical components in the CS15TL/CS20TL
are housed in an IP65 compartment with IP44 cooling
compartment.
3.2 GRID INTERFACE
The gird interface consists of a number of safety systems:
• VFM (Voltage and Frequency Monitoring);
• RCD (Residual Current Detection);
• DCD (Direct Current Detection);
• Controlling redundant AC relays for each grid phase.
3.3 OPTIMA COOLING
For an optimum internal temperature control the
CS15TL/CS20TL is provided with four cooling fans. These
fans start running slowly at inverter start up. Fan speed os
controlled by internal temperature and output power. If
internal temperature rises, the cooling fans will increase
their speed. This is a normal effect which enhances the
CS15TL/CS20TL efficiency and lifetime.
3.4 MONITORING
The CS15TL/CS20TL is equipped with a display for
monitoring on location. However, remote monitoring is an
option too, using the internet. See also chapter Operation.
If you opt for remote monitoring, please contact your
Mastervolt supplier.
