4 BEFORE YOU START
4.1 TRANSPORT, LIFTING AND STORAGE
Ensure adequate and secure packaging during
transportation of the CS15TL/CS20TL. Always use
suitable handling equipment for transportation.
When lifting the CS15TL/CS20TL avoid any
risk of personal injuries, do not stand under
the CS15TL/CS20TL.
4.2 APPARATUS SETTINGS
The CS15TL/CS20TL is equipped with an anti-islanding
device that ensures instant disconnection in case of grid
failure. European countries maintain different regulations
with regard to anti-islanding devices and grid connection of
distributed generation in general. The common islanding
device switches off the inverter if the grid voltage or
frequency is out of range. The CS15TL/CS20TL is set to
local regulations by setting the country in the
configurations menu. This setting is password protected.
Contact your Mastervolt distributor in case the settings
need to be changed.
CAUTION!
NEVER connect the CS15TL/CS20TL to a
utility grid other than specified, refer to
chapter 10.
4.3 INSTALLATION ENVIRONMENT
Obey the following stipulations during installation:
• The CS15TL/CS20TL is designed for both indoor and
outdoor use, safety class is IP65.
• Ambient temperature: -20 to 60°C; (power derating
above 40°C).
• Keep at least 50 cm space around the
CS15TL/CS20TL, fig 4.
• If the CS15TL/CS20TL is installed in the immediate
vicinity of living areas, take into account that it can
produce a certain noise level when operating.
• Mount the CS15TL/CS20TL vertically to a solid wall.
CAUTION!
Do not install in aggressive environments like
ammonium, acids and salt air.
CAUTION!
Do not install in areas that are subject to the
risk of gas- or dust explosions.
4.4 LIGHTNING PROTECTION
In a solar installation, precautions must be taken to avoid
damage from induced surges caused by lightning. The CS
15/20 TL is equipped with class III (mcro) protection
against over voltages on all DC, AC and communication
in/ outputs. Additional (external) surge protection of these
in/ outputs is strongly recommended. StringMaster string
boxes featuring a class II surge protection are available
from Mastervolt. Suitable surge arrestors (varistors) must
be installed near the inverter (<10 m).
