9.6 Calibration Procedure (Calibrate)
Pressing the key while at this command will initiate the calibration procedure. The
Calibration Procedure Should Only Be Used By A Certi ed Calibration Lab. The calibra-
tion process is as follows:
1. Setup the Cs137 source for 20mR/hr for the rst calibration point. The
rst calibration point is 20mR/hr for all PRM-X000 models.
2. Press the
key to start.
3. The unit counts down 10 seconds, beeping at each second, then takes
a 60-second measurement.
4. After 60 seconds, the unit beeps and displays the raw CPM.
5. Make a record of the CPM reading displayed for the 20mR/hr rst
calibration point.
6. Press any key to go to the second calibration point. The exposure
level for the second calibration point is PRM-X000 model-depen-
dent as follows:
PRM-7000: 500 mR/hr
PRM-8000: 200 mR/hr
PRM-9000: 125 mR/hr

7. Repeat steps 2 through 5 for Cs137 for the second calibration point
indicated in Table 9.6.1.
8. Make a record of the CPM reading displayed for second calibration
point.
9. Press any key to continue and the unit will complete calibration and
restart.
10. A decimal point to the right of the serial number will be displayed at
restart. This indicates the unit is operating from calibrated values and
not the factory settings.
