800-627-8569 27 Reel Disk from McFarlane Mfg.
11. Position the height of the disk gang gauge wheels (on
winged models only). With the disks in the ground at
the desired depth, lower the gauge wheels to carry
some of the wings weight, but not enough to prevent
the wing from reaching the depth of the main frame
components.
a. Loosen the jam nut located on the gauge wheel
ratchet cylinder with the adjustment wrench
provided.
b. Shortening the turnbuckle will raise the wheel,
allowing the disks to go deeper into the ground.
c. Verify that all gauge wheels have been adjusted
equally by measuring the pin to pin distance of the
ratchet cylinders.
d. Securely tighten the jam nut.
Note: The gauge wheels are not designed to prevent
the disks from working deeper than originally set.
The gauge wheels must be readjusted whenever
the disk depth is changed. During operation, the
gauge wheels should be observed to have some
side to side “castering” motion.
12. Adjust the depth of the spiral reel. The spiral reels
will generally run at the same depth as the disk
gangs. Adjust the depth stop valve to prevent the
spiral reels from going too deep.
a. Raise the wheel cylinders until the spiral reel is
operating at the approximate desired depth.
b. Turn the stop crank (depth control) to fully depress
the pin on the hydraulic stop valve.
c. Pull the reel disk through the fi eld and stop the unit
without raising it.
d. Check the depth of the spiral reel blades and adjust
the stop crank accordingly.
