Batteries should be checked and charged during storage at least once a month. Batteries
should be charged in case the electrolyte density is below 1,255 g/cm3 or the voltage drop
below 2,1V per each battery cell.
WARNING
Any work is forbidden (including connection and disconnection of electric system)
immediately after battery charging (about 30 min.).
Prior to commencement of any actions in the batteries compartment (apart from
batteries recharging), please disconnect the batteries cables (blue cable BAT- and red
cable BAT+).
It is forbidden to do any service works without required permissions, especially at
installation under voltage.
Battery services must be made in special protective glasses and clothing.
Additional information – lead acid batteries
Melex vehicles are equipped with lead-acid batteries (Pb) or GEL. The quantity of the batteries
mounted in vehicle depends of type of driving installation.
All works related to batteries maintenance mounted in vehicle should be run by the person:
who owns basic function knowledge of lead-acid battery
who knows vehicle and batteries operation manual
who owns required permissions if it is work with dangerous voltage
All works with batteries should be done outdoor or in well ventilated room, wearing safety
cloths, glasses and protection gloves. work clothes and personal protective equipment should be
resistant to sulfuric acid.
Before you accede to work first ventilate battery compartment.
In case of need batteries dismantling, disconnect batteries in following order:
1. disconnect blue wire BAT-
2. disconnect red wire BAT+
3. disconnect the remaining batteries’ wires.
While some work around batteries is running, it’s prohibited to put or leave on battery any tools
or subjects which might cause short circuit or batteries explosion.
Lead-acid batteries can be removed from batteries’ compartment using special carry belt prior
wires and securing elements disassembling.
Batteries user is categorically forbidden:
1. to disassemble used batteries outside of plants specializing in the processing of
used batteries and accumulators
2. to pour electrolyte of battery to sewerage or ground,
