Owners manual MELEX 4XX MELEX 2021/01
23
• overmuch load of vehicle;
• temperature of use over 27°C;
• storage temperature below 0°C in non-charged status.
ATTENTION
Too high or too low electrolyte level in battery will result in increased wear and
decrease in vehicle range.
Too low electrolyte level might case of battery damage.
The dark color of the electrolyte may indicate a deep discharge of the battery due to
heavy use or disregard of instructions of the charging and equalizing charging.
If in doubt contact the Factory’s service.
Owners Manual for Li-ion batteries is a separate attachment to vehicles equipped with
these batteries.
5. PERIODICAL MAINTENANCE
The herein User’s manual covers those exploitation and service actions that are
available to vehicle’s User without necessity to consult Producer’s service team.
5.1. Batteries
The connections between single batteries, as well as the connection between the
batteries set with vehicle electric installation should be made according to the plate placed in
the batteries compartment. It is important to pay attention so that the batteries are installed the
way they cannot shift from side to side during vehicle drive. After driving or batteries
discharge, please recharge the batteries with a recommended charger.
Lead-acid batteries
Before each charging, please check the electrolyte level in batteries. The correct
electrolyte level should be kept over the upper battery plate edge. Refill with distilled water if
necessary.
After charging of batteries is finished, refill electrolyte level till 12 mm over the upper
edge of battery plates.
On the regular basis batteries should be visually checked. In case of any dirt traces
please clean the batteries, preferably after dismounting from the vehicle, in places which are
adapted for this. Batteries should be washed with warm water, whereas the batteries terminals
should be cleaned with aqueous solution of baking soda. Excessive flooding of top cover can
damage the battery or cause it to short circuit.
In fully charged batteries the electrolyte density should range between 1,27 to 1,285
g/cm
3
at the ambient temperature of 25-27
o
C. To check the electrolyte density, please use
an areometer.
Lead-acid batteries’ storage conditions
Batteries should be stored in the ambient temperature (approx. 22°C), charged, in a dry
place protected against frost. Continued use of a battery that has been frozen is not
recommended because cracks may have formed in its housing due to the formation of ice.
