SDM-9230, providing up to 12 analog E&M voice ports in a single unit.
To interpret the status LEDs on this interface card, refer to “Interface Card Status LEDs”
on page 4-27.
E&M signaling requires two sets of wires: one to carry signaling information (the E and M
leads), and the other to carry the VF audio signals.
Audio signals are transported over either two wires (two-wire E&M) or four
wires (four-wire E&M).
Up to eight wires can be required in all, depending on the type of E&M used on
the PBX.
CAUTION:: For important E&M wiring and grounding considerations,
refer to “E&M Wiring and Grounding” on page 3-23.
NOTE: You must install a ferrite on each cable connected to an E&M port on an
SDM-9220 UAC or SDM-9230 UAC. These ferrites are
not provided with
the product package. For instructions, turn to “Installing the Ferrites (EMI
Filters)” on page 3-26.
4.10.4 Channelized Digital Interfaces
The following digital interface cards are available: single port T1/E1, dual port T1/E1 and
ISDN BRI S/T.
You must install a DSP module if you intend to use any of these interface cards for digital
voice. See “Installing or Upgrading the DSP Module” on page 3-5.
