For the DVS Method
1. To choose the starting a

, highlight “Start,” press the Enter button.

2. Cycle to the desired value using the up and down arrows.
Choose any value between 0.03 and 0.95 a

including current. Choosing current means
that the stage starts at the initial aw of the sample.
3. Press the Save button when finished.

5. Cycle to the desired value using the up and down arrows. Choose any value between
0.03 and 0.95 a

including current (see current definition above). Selecting a final a

is lower than the starting a

results in desorption, while selecting a final a

results in adsorption.
6. Press the Save button when finished.
7. To choose the temperature of the stage, highlight “Temperature,” press the Enter button
with “Temperature highlighted.
8. Cycle to the desired temperature using the up and down arrow keys. Choose any
temperature between 15 and 60 °C and each stage can run at a unique temperature.

step, highlight “Step, press the Enter button.
10. Cycle to the desired value using the up and down arrows. Choose any value between
0.003 and 1.0 a

. The step setting for DVS determines the a

values for equilibration
and consequently the resolution. A step setting of 0.10 a

with a starting value of 0.1 a

results in humidity being controlled to 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 ... up to the final a

, remaining at
each level until either equilibrium is achieved based on the trigger value or reaching
the timeout value. Setting a higher value makes the test faster, but decreases the a

resolution.
