4.19 Connecting and rinsing the guard column

CAUTION

New guard columns are filled with a solution and sealed with stoppers

or caps on both sides.

Before inserting the guard column, ensure that this solution can be

mixed with the eluent being used (follow the information provided by

the manufacturer).

NOTE

The guard column may not be connected until after the instrument has

already been put into operation once (see Chapter 4.18, page 30). The

guard column and the separation column have to be replaced by a cou-

pling (6.2744.040) until then.

For this step, you need the following accessories:

￭ Guard column (suitable for separation column)

Connecting the guard column

Rinsing the guard column

￭ Place a beaker under the guard column's outlet.
