h. Driver distraction
Distractions can be deadly,
especially for new drivers. Safety
should always come first. Avoid
distractions like reaching for things,
eating, grooming, passengers, and
using phones.
Taking your eyes o the road or
hands o the wheel can lead to
accidents. To stay safe:
• Set up devices like phones and
GPS when stopped.
• Use your phone only when safe
and legal.
• Never let a device distract you
from driving.
I. Control your speed
Speeding causes many injuries and
deaths in accidents. Faster speeds
mean more risk, but even slower
speeds can be dangerous. Drive at a
safe speed for the conditions, no
matter the posted limit.
j. Keep your vehicle safe
Blown tires or mechanical failures
are extremely dangerous. To avoid
these problems:
• Check tire pressure and condition
often.
• Keep up with regular
maintenance.
