3.4.2  Control Settings, Temperature
Thefollowingaregeneralguidelinesforreducingtemperaturein2DorDopplermodes.
•  Ingeneral,imagingin2Dmoderesultsinthelowesttransducersurfacetemperature.
•  Whenimagingin2Dmode,increasingtheimagedepthgenerallyreducesthe
transducersurfacetemperature.
•  Whenimagingincolormode,therearenoimagingchangesthatreducethetransducer
surfacetemperature.
•  WhenimaginginPWDopplermode,decreasingthePRFand/orpositioningthe
Dopplersamplegatetoashallowerdepthgenerallyreducesthetransducersurface
temperature.
•  WhenimaginginCWDopplermode,increasingthedepthoftheCWDopplersample
line(2DimagedepthpriortoturningonDopplertracemode)generallyreducesthe
transducersurfacetemperature.
•  Inanyimagingmode,freezingtheimagewilltemporarilyreducethetransducer
surfacetemperature.
3.4.3  Temperature Calibration Test
Thetemperaturemeasurementfunctionshouldbeverifiedtothespecificationsatleast
onceayear.
Test Setup 
Assemblethefollowingitemsforthetest.
•  Temperaturestabilizedwaterbath
•  Temperaturegaugewithaccuracyof±0.1°C
Temperature Calibration Test
1.  Adjustthewaterbathtemperatureto41°±0.1°Candmonitorthetemperaturewiththe
gauge.
Ifanaccurateandstablewaterbathisnotavailable,theaddedinaccuracymustbe
takenintoaccountwhenthetemperatureisreadfromtheultrasoundsystem.Deviation
ofmorethan±0.5°Cisnotacceptable.Maintainingthisaccuracywithouttemperature
regulationmaybedifcult.
2.  ConnecttheTEEtransducertotheultrasoundsystem.
3.  Press<Freeze>andsetpatienttemperaturetobe41°Conultrasoundsystem.
4.  Putthetransducertipinthewaterbath.
Atleast10cmofthedistalendmustbesubmerged.
5.  Observethetemperatureindicatedonthesystemmonitor.
6.  Waituntilthetemperaturedisplayisstabilizedat41°±0.5°Cplus/minusanywaterbath
temperaturedeviation.
7.  ObservethattheWarningpop-upwindowisdisplayed.
Ifbothsteps6and7arepassedthetemperatureshutdownworksasstated.Ifnot,
ContactMindrayoryourlocalrepresentative.
