Engine installation
1. Carefully place the engine on the tiller and line the bolt holes on the engine and frame
NOTE: A 3/8” drift can be used to line the holes in the base of the engine to the frame.
NOTE: The mounting holes on a new short block will not be threaded. The engine mounting screws are self-
tapping.
2. Start the four engine mounting screws to assure that all four holes are aligned.
3. Tighten the screws to a torque of 120 - 160 in lbs (13 - 18 Nm) using a 1/2” wrench.
4. Install the belt by following the steps described in Chapter 2: Clutch and Controls.
5. Assure oil level is at the correct level.
6. Start and test run the tiller in a safe area before the tiller is returned to service.
NOTE: The engine RPM should be set to 3500 +/- 100 rpms for proper operation.
