Chapter 5 - Input &Output Signals
5.1 UVW and XYZ Output Signals
The Trillium Compact can be configured to output either XYZ or UVW signals. The natural
output is UVW where the outputs represent the motions in the direction of sensitivity of the
three sensor components. The conventional seismometer output is XYZ where the outputs
represent horizontal and vertical motion of the seismometer. When you change the output
mode, the seismometer will respond within 4 s.
To understand the difference between the UVW and XYZ outputs, see Figure 5-1. By design,
the Trillium Compact axes are identical and sense motion in orthogonal directions. The Uaxis
is aligned with the X axis when projected into the horizontal plane.
