VLAN Management
NetModule routers support Virtual LAN according to IEEE 802.1Q which can be used to create virtual
interfaces on top of an Ethernet interface. The VLAN protocol inserts an additional header to Ethernet
frames carrying a VLAN Identifier (VLAN ID) which is used for distributing the packets to the associated
virtual interface. Any untagged packets, as well as packets with an unassigned ID, will be distributed
to the native interface.

In order to form a distinctive subnet, the network interface of a remote LAN host must be configured
with the same VLAN ID as defined on the router. Further, 802.1P introduces a priority field which
influences packet scheduling in the TCP/IP stack.
The following priority levels (from lowest to highest) exist:
