Overview

This document outlines the features and programming instructions for the NT-1202 barcode scanner. It is designed as a quick setup guide for both 1D and 2D barcode scanning.

Function Description

The NT-1202 is a plug-and-play barcode scanner, primarily designed for use with a US keyboard. For other keyboard types, users need to set the keyboard language before use. The scanner supports various communication modes, scanning modes, and barcode symbologies, offering flexibility for different operational environments. It can be configured to add prefixes or suffixes to scanned data, adjust beeper volume, and manage check digit transmissions.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Connectivity: USB 2.0 Wired.
  • Communication Modes: USB-KBW (Keyboard Wedge) and USB Serial Port Emulation.
  • Supported Barcode Symbologies (Enable/Disable options):
    • UPC-A
    • UPC-E
    • EAN-8
    • EAN-13
    • Bookland EAN (ISBN)
    • Code 128
    • Code 39 (including Full ASCII)
    • Code 93
    • Code 11
    • Interleaved 2 of 5
    • Discrete 2 of 5 / Industrial 2 of 5
    • Matrix 25
    • Codabar
    • MSI / MSI Plessey
    • GS1 DataBar / RSS (DataBar-14, DataBar Limited, DataBar Expanded)
    • PDF417
    • QR Code
    • Data Matrix (DM)
    • Maxi Code
  • Terminator Configuration: Supports CR (Carriage Return) and CRLF (Carriage Return Line Feed) suffixes.
  • Beeper Volume: Low, Medium, High (default), Mute options.
  • Code ID Character Transmission: Symbol Code ID, AIM Code ID, or None (default).

Usage Features

  • Plug and Play: For US keyboards, the device is ready to use upon plugging in the USB cable.
  • Keyboard Language Support: The scanner can be configured for various keyboard layouts, including America (default), Portugal, French, Spain, Germany, Turkey Q, Hungary, Czech, and Italy. This ensures correct data upload according to the specific keyboard layout.
  • Scanning Modes:
    • Key Holding (Level):* Press and hold the button to trigger scanning; release to end. Scanning also ends upon successful read or timeout. This is the default mode.
    • Continuous Mode: The scanner performs continuous scanning. Reading ends upon successful read or timeout, automatically triggering the next scan after a specified time.
    • Auto Sense Mode: The scanner detects changes in ambient brightness to trigger scanning. Reading ends upon successful read or timeout, then re-enters brightness detection.
  • Barcode Programming: Settings are changed by scanning specific programming barcodes provided in the guide. An asterisk (*) indicates the default setting for each option.
  • Prefix/Suffix Values: Users can append a prefix and/or one or two suffixes to scanned data for data editing. These values are set by scanning four-digit numbers corresponding to ASCII values.
  • Scan Data Transmission Format: Multiple formats are available, allowing users to specify how prefixes, data, and suffixes are ordered in the transmitted output (e.g., Data As Is, Data+Suffix1, Prefix+Data, Prefix+Data+Suffix1+Suffix2).
  • Functional Key Set: Allows mapping specific scan values to functional keys (e.g., Enter, Left Arrow, Ctrl+G, Ctrl+H). This feature can be enabled or disabled. When enabled, scanning a specific value (e.g., 1004) will transmit a functional key (e.g., Ctrl+D) instead of a regular keystroke (e.g., Up Down).
  • Check Digit Management: Options to transmit or not transmit check digits for various barcode types like UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 39, Interleaved 2 of 5, and MSI.
  • Barcode Conversion: Includes a feature to convert UPC-E (zero suppressed) decoded data to UPC-A format before transmission.

Maintenance Features

  • Default Configuration: A specific barcode (303FFF3) is provided to cancel all user configurations and restore the scanner to factory default settings.
  • Driver Information: For USB Serial Port operation, a driver is required for Windows 7 (64X) and other systems (X86). Windows 10 and above do not require additional software. The download link for drivers is provided: http://www.gzxlscan.com/downloads/.
