Registering a SNMP Manager
By default, SNMP is not configured. To add a SNMP manager, use the following
command.
COMMAND
(conf)# snmp add <address> <community> read|rdwr
[trapon|trapoff]
Parameters
<address> - IP address of SNMP manager station
<community> - Specifies the SNMP community name
read|rdwr : sets an authority, Allow read-only or allow read and
write. The SNMP manager station can read or write to and from
the router's MIB according to the privilege setting.
trapon|trapoff : whether or not the "trap" is to be transmitted to
the manager that is currently being registered.
Attention: The community name on your SNMP management application must match
the community name on the router. Usually an SNMP management application has
different community names for each access type (read, read/write and trap). Each
community names are to be set individually on the management application, but the
router sets up only one community name of the specified manager. Thus when you
create a SNMP node on your network management application, specify the same
community name to all community names.
Setting an IP address for SNMP Trap
Sets the trap IP address. This address is a source address of the trap transmitted to the
manager. And you set whether the unit transmits "authentication trap" to the manager.
COMMAND (conf)# snmp authtrap on|off <address>
Parameters
authtrap on|off : If you set up ‘on’, transmit authentication trap.
<address> - Among the IP addresses defined in each interface,
select the IP address that was registered with SNMP manager
and enter it.
Note: If this setting is not configured, the source address of trap will be determined
according to priority pre-defined to each interface.
