Principle Functions of the Controls
Command dial
For shooting
• When the shooting mode is
j (A46):
Set the flexible program.
• When the shooting mode is k, m (A46),
or Manual in u (Movie manual): Set
the shutter speed.
For playback
Change the magnification rate of a zoomed
image.
Control ring
For shooting
• When the focus-mode selector is set to q:
Display the setting screen that is selected in
Control ring options (A119).*
• When the focus-mode selector is set to
r: Adjust the focus manually.
* This function is not available with some
shooting modes.
d (menu) button
For shooting/
playback
Display or close the menu (A113).
w (function) button
For shooting
When the shooting mode is j, k, l, m, or M:
Display or close the setting menus such as
Continuous or Vibration reduction.
x (monitor) button
For shooting/
playback
Switch between the monitor and viewfinder
(A26).
s (display) button
For shooting/
playback
Switch the information displayed on the
screen.
c (playback) button
For shooting Play back images (A27).
For playback
• When the camera is turned off, press and
hold down this button to turn the camera
on in playback mode (A27).
• Return to shooting mode.
l (delete) button
For shooting Delete the last image that was saved (A28).
For playback Delete images (A28).
