Using the Zoom
C Zoom Speed When Recording Movies
The zoom speed when using the side zoom control is slower than when using the zoom
control. Use the zoom control for a faster zoom speed when recording a movie.
Using the Snap-back Zoom
If you lose sight of the subject while shooting with the
lens in telephoto position, press the p (snap-back
zoom) button to temporarily widen the visible area so
that you can frame the subject more easily.
While pressing the p button, frame the subject
inside the framing border of the shooting screen. To
widen the visible area further, move the zoom
control toward f while pressing the p button.
Release the p button to return to the original zoom
position.
You can select the Snap-back zoom (A173) setting
in the setup menu to specify the size of the area that is
visible when the p button is pressed.
Snap-back zoom is not available during movie
recording.
