GPRS, HSCSD and CSD
With your phone you can use GPRS
(General Packet Radio Service),
HSCSD (High Speed Circuit Switched
Data), and CSD (Circuit Switched
Data, GSM data) data services.
For availability and subscription to
data services, contact your network
operator or service provider.
Note that the use of HSCSD service
consumes the phone’s battery faster
than normal voice or data calls. You
may need to connect the phone to a
charger for the duration of data
transfer.
See ”GPRS modem settings” on page
75.
■ Use data
communication
applications
For information on using a data
communication application, refer to
the documentation provided with it.
1. If you use an IR connection:
• Activate the IR connection in
the phone, see ”Infrared” on
page 74. Make sure that the
connection is active in your
PC.
If you use the cable DKU-5:
• Connect the cable to the USB
port on the back of your
computer and to the
connector on your phone.
2. Start using the data
communications application on
the computer.
Note that making or answering
phone calls during a computer
connection is not recommended as it
might disrupt the operation.
For a better performance during data
calls, place the phone on a
stationary surface with the keypad
facing downward. Do not move the
phone or hold it in your hand during
a data call.
