Checking the Device Connection to the Cellular
Network
Once the device is power cycled in the previous step, use the following commands to check that the
device can connect to the cellular network.
To check if the device can connect to the cellular network:
4 Send the following commands to the device:
ATCommand Command Action
AT+CREG?
+CREG: 0,1
+CREG: 0,5
Verify GSM status :
l GSM registered to home network
l GSM registered roaming
AT%CGREG?
%CGREG: 0,1
%CGREG: 0,5
Verify GPRS status:
l GPRS registered to home network
l GPRS registered roaming
AT$NETIP?
Verify GPRS activation:
l If the response is non-zero, then everything is working
AT$CGEER
If AT$NETIP returns all zeros:
l No PDP reject cause (Everything should be working OK)
l Requested service option not subscribed (APN is
incorrect or SIM has not been enabled for data mode.)
l User authentication failed (username/password is
wrong)
