Creating a Hard-Sync Lead
Here’s another classic sound: a hard-sync lead. A famous example of this
is “Let’s Go” by the Cars (originally performed on a Prophet-5). In this
example you’ll learn how to hard-sync the oscillators, pitch-modulate
one of them with an auxiliary envelope, then add effects.
To create a hard-sync lead:
1. Recall the basic preset (remember: hold octave -2 and press low split
-2).
2. In the Filter mixer, press the osc 2 button.
3. Enable the sync button.
4. Set Oscillator 1’s frequency to c+2. This will allow for a wide range of
pitch modulation in step 9.
5. Set the keyboard octave button to -1. This will set Osc 2’s octave down
