Trouble
shooting

Power
but
no
sound.
Cause:
TAPE-2
MONITOR
button
is
on.
Remedy:
Switch
to
off.
Cause:
MUTING
button
is
on.
Remedy:
Switch
to
off
with
the
remote
control.
Cause:
Bad/incorrect
connections.
Remedy:
Check
input
heads,
speaker
leads,
pin
plugs.
Cause:
SPEAKERS
button
is
off.
Remedy:
SPEAKERS
button
is
on.
Cause:
PROCESSOR
switch
is
on
with
no
processor.
Remedy:
PROCESSOR
switch
is
off.

Hum
low
frequency
noise
Cause:
Poor
or
no
input
ground.
Remedy:
Check
outer
conducter
of
input
plugs.
Cause:
Poor
or
no
phono
motor
ground.
Remedy:
Check
for
proper
ground
connection.
*
Howling
when
the
volume
is
turned
up.
Cause:
Turntable
and
speakers
are
too
close
together.
Remedy:
Move
them
farther
apart.

FM
tuned
and
stereo
indicators
light
but
sound
is
distorted
and
stereo
separation
is
bad.
Cause:
Station
is
too
strong.
Remedy:
Change
to
T-shaped
antenna.
Cause:
Multiple
reflection
of
the
radio
waves
because
of
tall
buildings
or
mountains.
Remedy:
Use
antenna
which
has
better
directivity
and
select
a
point
where
the
distortion
is
least.

FM
tuned
indicator
and
stereo
indicator
flicker
and
hiss
is
heard
on
FM
Cause:
Station
is
too
weak.
Remedy:
Install
an
outdoor
FM
antenna.
Cause:
Stereo
FM
broadcasts
cover
only
about
half
the
distance
of
an
ordinary
broadcast.
Remedy:
Change
the
position
or
direction
of
the
outdoor
antenna.

No
atation
is
recalled
when
a
preset
button
is
pressed.
Cause:
The
power
cord
has
been
unplugged
for
a
long
time.
Remedy:
The
memory
contents
are
lost.
Store
all
stations
again.

RDS
function
does
not
work.

It is
not
RDS
station.
Remedy:
Receive
an
RDS
station.
Cause:
The
reception
station
signal
is
too
weak.
Remedy;
Install
an
outdoor
FM
antenna.

position

outdoor
antenna.

Too
much
intergerence.
Remedy:
Move
the
antenna
as
far
away
as
possible
from
the
fluorescent
lamp.
