SAFETY RULES

KICKBACK
WARNING: KICKBACK IS AN
EXTREMELY FAST, BACKWARD
AND/OR UPWARD MOTION OF THE
CHAINSAW OCCURRING WHEN THE
SAW CHAIN NEAR THE NOSE OR TOP
AREA OF THE GUIDE BAR CONTACTS
ANY OBJECT, OR WHEN THE WOOD
CLOSES IN AND PINCHES THE GUIDE
BAR.

KICKBACK SAFETY DEVICES
ON THIS SAW
CHAIN BRAKE
Thechainsawcomesequippedwith
achainbrake,whichstopsboththe
motorandthemotionofthechain
whenkickbackoccurs(Fig.3).Thechain
brakecanbeactivatedbytheforward
motionofthehandguardasthesaw
rotates backward during kickback; it can
alsobeactivatedbytheinertialforces
generatedduringrapidpushback.
