MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
•Reattachthesidecover,makingsure
thechaincatchisproperlyseatedin
its hole. Lightly tighten the side cover
knob(Fig.26).

* To even bar wear and maximize bar
life, invert the bar occasionally.
TENSIONING INSTRUCTIONS
•Withthesidecoverknobonlyslightly
tightened,holdupthenoseofthebar
andtightenthebaradjustingscrew
(Fig.27).

Chain tension is correct when, with
some effort, with a gloved hand you are
abletopullthechainsmoothlyaround
the bar. The chain should touch the
undersideofthebarrail(Fig.28).

Duringitsearlylifeuse,runthe
chainsaw,notcuttingforaminuteor
two, making sure the chain is getting
agoodsupplyofoil.Stopthemotor
andcheckthechaintension.Ifithas
loosened,readjust.
Afterashortperiodofuse,allowthe
chain to cool and once again recheck the
tension(removethebatteryrst).Watch
tensioncarefullyforthersthalf-hour
ofuseandperiodicallythroughoutthe
lifeofthechain,readjustingasrequired
when the chain and bar are cool to the
touch. Never tighten chain when it is hot.
Lubricatethechainproperlywith
OREGON® brand bar and chain oil. It has
beenspeciallyformulatedtomaximize
powerandreducefriction.Makecertain
thechainisgettinganadequatesupply
ofoil.Oilshouldbethrownfromthe
noseofthebarwhenthechainsawis
running, but not in the cut.
Saw chain will stretch as a result
ofnormaluse,butinsucientoil,
aggressiveuse,orfailuretoperform
recommended maintenance can lead to
prematurestretching.
