Setting the Hard Disk Lock
When the [Hard Disk Lock] is set to [Enabled], it is impossible to read/write data from/to the hard disk
when the hard disk is inserted in a different computer.
Note that this Hard Disk Lock does not guarantee complete protection of data.

Start up the Setup Utility. (
page 57)
If the password has been set, enter the Supervisor Password, and press .
When the Supervisor Password has not been set, set the Supervisor Password. (
below)

Select [Security] using or .
To set the supervisor password:
1 Select [Set Supervisor Password] using
or , and press .
2 Enter your password in [Create New Password] and press
.
3 Enter your password again in [Confirm New Password] and press
.

Select [Hard Disk Lock] using or , and press .

Select [Enabled] using or , and press .

At the confirmation message, press .

Press , and then select [Yes] and press .
When starting up the computer, if the message [Hard disk access is prohibited by “Hard Disk Lock”]
appears, run the Setup Utility, and change the settings to match the details when [Hard Disk Lock] was
set.
