Fuel System Primary Filter (Water Separator) Element - Replace
6. Tighten the ven
t screw (1) securely . Remove the
wiring harness from connection (4).
7. Remove the filt
er bowl (6). Rotate the filter
assembly counterclockwise in order to remove
the filter assembly. Use a suitable tool in order to
remove the fil
ter assembly.

8. Rotate the filter element counterclockwise and
remove the filter element (5). Clean the filter bowl.

1. Locate
thethreadinthefilter element (8) onto the
threads (9). Spin on the element. Do not tighten.
2. Lubri
cate the O ring seal (7) with clean engine oil.
Do NOT fill the bowl with fuel before the assembly
is installed.
3. Do not use a tool in order to install the filter
assembly. Tighten the filter bowl (6) by hand.
Inst
all the filter bowl (6) and align with your
temporary marks (A).
4. Tigh
ten the valve (2) securely. Remove the
container and dispose of the fuel in a safe place.
5. The s
econdary filter element must be replaced at
the same time as the primary filter element. Refer
to the Operation and Maintenance Manual , “Fuel
Sys
tem Filter - Replace”.
In-
line Strainer
The fuel system has an in-line strainer installed before
th
e electric priming pump. Perkins recommended
that the in-line strainer be replaced when required.
Th
e location of the in-line strainer will depend on the
application.
