Lifting and Storage
4. Remove the driv
e belt from the engine.
Sealed Coolant System
Ensure that the cooling system is lled with Perkins
ELC, or an antifreeze that meets “ASTM D6210”
specicatio
n.
Open C ooling System
Ensure that all cooling drain plugs have been
opened. Allow the coolant to drain. Install the drain
plugs. Plac
e a vapor phase inhibitor into the system.
The coolant system must be sealed once the vapor
phase inhibitor has been introduced. The effect of the
vapor phas
e inhibitor will be lost if the cooling system
is open to the atmosphere.

and Maintenance Manual.
Aftertre
atment
No special procedures are required. The exhaust
outlet o
f the aftertreatment should be capped. Before
storing, the engine and the aftertreatment must be
enclosed in a cover.
Monthly Ch ecks
The cra
nkshaft must be rotated in order to change
the spring loading on the valve train. Rotate
the crankshaft more than 180 degrees. Visibly
check f
or damage or corrosion to the engine and
aftertreatment.
Ensur
e that the engine and aftertreatment are
covered completely before storage. Log the
procedure in the record for the engine.
