Difficult start up (02_08)
Should you experience starting difficulties, please proceed as follows:
1. If the engine is flooded. Carry out the operations indicated above. Twist the throttle
fully and press the starter button, «G», while twisting the throttle for five seconds and
maintaining it fully opened for another five seconds repeatedly; this alternated opening
and closing operation allows more fuel to flow into the cylinder.
Should the engine fail to start after a few attempts, let it rest for a few minutes and
repeat the above operations; please do not overstress the electric motor while at-
tempting to start the engine.
As a last resort, remove the spark plug and crank the engine in order to expel the
excessive fuel; hence refit the spark plug and repeat the previous operations from
point 1.
2. If the vehicle has run out of fuel. After filling up the fuel tank, proceed to start the
engine by pressing the starter button, «G», and maintaining the throttle completely
untwisted, in order to increase the efficiency of the fuel pump.
3. If the engine is hot. Please follow the same operations while maintaining the throt-
tle slightly open.
Should the vehicle fail to start after following the previous instructions, please contact
your local PIAGGIO Dealer or Authorised Service Station.
A new starter system, fitted with an automatic valve-lift mechanism, has largely im-
proved the efficiency of the starter motor.
