Charging the Smart.Shift system
With e-bikes, the power supply is usually provided by the drive
system battery. These systems do not require extra charging for
the shifting mechanism.
On bicycles without a drive battery, charging is performed via
the 6-pin plug. This plug is violet on the inside. If the
rechargeable battery is attached to the outside of the frame, it
can be removed and charged directly with the rechargeable
battery plug.
If the rechargeable battery is installed in the frame, it can be
charged via the charging cable installed in the bike.

Follow the enclosed instructions from the manufacturer
AnsmannAG for the rechargeable battery and charger.
SPEED SENSOR
The speed sensor is an optional component of the Smart.Shift
system. It is necessary in order to use the full scope of the
Smart.Shift technology. Without the speed sensor, only manual
shifting is possible. The PRE.SELECT and START.SELECT
functions (see "Smart.Shift technology" [p.36]) require a
speed signal. With e-bikes, this information can also come
from the drive system.
