name of the printer you wish to use, and click on the Settings button.
4. If this printer has not been set as a default printer, the system will prompt
for a PPD (printer description) file. Select the PDDF file for the printer
in use. If this printer cannot be found in the list, click on the “Use
General Settings” button to use General Settings.
To use these settings afterwards, click on the “Re-configure” button in the
Selector window.
5. N o w, the selected printer has been set as the default printer of your
c o m p u t e r. If you are using any application right now, select the Page
Settings option to enable the printer.

A p p l e Talk networking protocol is used on computers that utilize an OS
called MacOS. While AppleTalk can be used in standard Ethernet or Fast
Ethernet networks, it also works with a slower protocol called “LocalTalk
transport”.
※ In Macintosh environments, the print server only supports PostScript
printers. Printers with no PostScript support cannot be used with the print
server.
※The print server only supports print data in ASCII format. Binary data
may not be printed properly.
Note :
When attaching a printer to the parallel port on the print server, the name of
the port will be used as the “Selector” name of the printer. Verify that this
port name is not used in other printers on the entire AppleTalk network.
■Installing the print server for AppleTalk
Follow the steps below to enable the print server on your Macintosh.
Note that the method to select a PostScript printer may vary among different
versions and types of printer driver. The example below is for Laser Writer
8 Print Driver.
1. From the Apple menu, choose Selector to open the Selector screen.
2. Click on the LaserWriter 8 Icon in the small window on the right. Also
verify that the “Use” option is selected for AppleTalk (see the bottom of
the screen).
3. All Post Script printers on your network will be displayed. Select the
