Q. Which printers are not supported by the print server?
A. Printers that require “bi-directional parallel port service” (those designed
for Windows Printing System, etc.) are not supported. The print server
cannot return signals from the printer to the network. For this reason,
drivers of the printers with bi-directional parallel port behave as if no
printer is attached to the PC. Similarly, printers from some vendors that
utilize a special spool manager may not work with the print server.
Features that check the ink level are not supported as well for the same
reason.
※Printers not supported by the print server:
Canon LBP-220 Series, EPSON LP-700W, NEC MultiWriter1000LW, etc.
For a list of all the tested (and supported ) printers, please visit our web site.
Q. EPSON MJ/PM Series printers do not print when used with the print
server.
A. Please change the settings of the printer in the following manner:
1. From the Start button, select Program, EPSON and then Spool Manager.
2. Select the printer in use, and open Print Queue and then Queue Setup.
3. Check the Use Print Manager option in the General (or “All”) field, and
click on the OK button. Your printer is now ready to print.
Q. The system no longer displays the ink level and paper-out condition.
A. This condition is normal since the print server does not support bi-
directional mode. (The printer driver no longer receives these data from
the printer.)
