13 PANORAMIC SCALE
The PLANMECA PANORAMIC SCALE is for measur-
ing vertical features that appear on panoramic radio-
graphs taken with a PLANMECA X-ray units. The
scale is useful when carrying out dental procedures
such as:
- root canal therapy; the scale can be used to take
direct measurements of the root canal
- the preparation of the root canal for root post anchor-
ing; the length of the root can be accurately measured
- an aid in periodontics; depths of bone pockets and
the amount of remaining bone support can be deter-
mined.
Using the scale
For accurate results the PLANMECA PANORAMIC
SCALE must only be used with panoramic radiographs
taken with PLANMECA X-ray units.
Place the radiograph you wish examine on a light box.
The Panoramic scale can now be placed on the radio-
graph and used to measure features in the vertical
direction.
For patients with teeth that are severely tilted in the
bucco-lingual direction the measurements taken with
the PLANMECA PANORAMIC SCALE will be too
short.
