ENGINE LOWER DISASSEMBLY/INSPECTION

39. Remove and clean oil pick up (V) and oil baffle
weldment (W).

40. Remove balance shaft and crankshaft.
41. Remove and inspect crankshaft main journal
bearings for abnormal wear. It is recommended
to replace the bearings anytime the engine is
disassembled.
CAMSHAFT INSPECTION
1. Thoroughly clean the cam shaft.
2. Visually inspect each cam lobe for wear, chafing
or damage.
Lobe height
3. Measure height of each cam lobe using a
micrometer. Compare to specifications.
Cam Lobe Height (Intake & Exhaust):
Std: 0 .2170” ± 0.00236”
(5.5118 ± 0.060 mm)
4. Measure camshaft journal outside diameters
(O.D.)
