Maintenance
The Prodigy Preferred
TM
does not require special maintenance.
• Avoid getting dirt, dust, blood, control solution or water inside
the meter through the test port or data port.
• Store the meter, test strips and control solution in the
carrying case after each use in a cool, dry place.
• Do not refrigerate.
• Use a cloth dampened with water and mild detergent to wipe the
outside of the meter.

Battery
Your meter comes with one (1) 3 Volt
CR2032 lithium battery. The meter will
alert you when the power is getting
low by displaying two (2) different
messages:
1. When the “ ” symbol appears
alone on the display, the meter is
functional and the result remains
accurate, but you should change the
battery as soon as possible.
See Figure 36.
2. When the “ ” symbol appears
together with the “E-b” symbol on the
display, the battery does not have
enough power for a test. You must
change the battery before using the
meter. See Figure 37.
