4.2.4 SCAN operation mode
The SCAN operation mode shows the level of each of the active channels in the
channel plan through a bar graph on the display, within a frequency interval of 100
MHz. Additionally, it numerically shows the channel level indicated by the floating
marker.
To access the SCAN operating mode menu from any operating mode press the
direct access button to go directly to the main menu. Later, select the SCAN [F4] option
from the lower selection box.

The SCAN operating mode menu offers three options: SEARCH [F3], SLM [F4]
and ANALYSE [F5].
The SEARCH function carries out an exploration to find all DOCSIS channels
present at the channel plan frequency band. Also for each DOCSIS channel, the power
level, the MER measurement and the corresponding upstream channel identifier (UCI)
is showed. The system identifies the possible channels where it is able to do ranging
with a number. The number of these identifiers, as well as their position will determine
the time that can take in setting the emission power (ranging).
By means of the navigation buttons [6] and pressing the ANALYSE [F5] option
could be analysed each one of the DOCSIS channels found.
