6.5 EXCHANGE DEVICES
It is important that the exchange procedure is followed precisely in the order described here i.e. NO
devices must be added to the system until the ’EXCHANGE DEVICES’ menu option has been selected
on the panel driving the device.
Find the ‘EXCHANGE DEVICES’ option from the ‘Advanced options’ menu using ‘NEXT/PREVIOUS’.
Press ‘ACCEPT’. The LCD displays: -
No more than 8 devices can be exchanged at a time. Follow the exchange procedure as shown below:
1. Record the loop and address of the device to be exchanged.
2. Ensure that the replacement device is of the same type as the device to be removed.
3. Record the serial number of the replacement device.
4. Exchange the two devices.
5. Record the serial number of the exchanged device.
The replacement device should pulse its led for 2 seconds on and two seconds off to show that it has been
detected by the system. Type checking cannot be performed by the system at this stage so the replacement may
yet be unsuitable.
Use ‘NEXT/PREVIOUS’ to select the loop then press ‘ACCEPT’. The LCD will display:
Pressing NEXT will display the first missing device, in this example loop 1, address 02:
If this device is the one to be exchanged press ‘ACCEPT’ and the cursor will move to the right hand end of the
display. Use ‘NEXT/PREVIOUS’ to cycle through the serial numbers of devices that have been added. When
the correct replacement device is displayed, press ‘ACCEPT’. The display shows:
Use ‘NEXT’ to select ‘Yes’ then press ‘ACCEPT’. At this point, the exchange has not been saved. Repeat this
exchange procedure for all exchanged devices then press ‘MENU’ until the panel exits from ‘Advanced
options’. The display will show the software version screen; then it will display:
Press ‘ACCEPT’ to save the changes else press ‘NEXT’ to select ‘No’. If ‘Yes’ is selected then the system will
save the changes and revert to the normal display. The saving of data will take a minute or two. A system
change fault will be generated. To clear the fault, see section CLEARING SYSTEM FAULT / CHANGE.
Note: On a networked system, only the panel’s own loop devices can be exchanged (not global).
