5.0 Using the wheelchair
DANGER!
Be aware that you may need to adjust the controller se! ngs
of your system.
Consult your authorized dealer to adjust the control se! ngs
immediately if you no" ce any change in your ability to:
1. Control the joys" ck
2. Hold your torso erect
3. Avoid running into objects.
5.1 Checking wheelchair before use
Perform the following daily check rou" ne before driving:
CAUTION!
Checking wheels
Are the wheels su# ciently secured (Chapter 8.2).
Checking the ba" ery
Before using your vehicle for the very $ rst " me, please
charge your ba% ery for a period of 24 hours.
Are the ba% eries su# ciently charged? The green lights on
the ba% ery indicator must be on.
Checking remote
With the control system switched o& , check that the joys" ck
is not bent or damaged and that it returns to the center
when you push and release it.
Checking free wheel lever
Ensure that the free wheel lever has been set to ‘drive’.
Checking sea# ng
Ensure that all the cushions are in place.
Visually inspect the wheelchair to make sure the leg rests,
armrests etc. are correctly posi" oned and a% ached to the
wheelchair and all fasteners are su# ciently " ghtened.
Checking clothing on poten# al entrapment
When opera" ng the wheelchair, ensure that your clothing
does not hamper the wheelchair (i.e. too long). Before use,
always check if your clothing or accessories do not come
into contact with the wheels or and other moving and/or
rota" ng parts in which they could become entangled.
Checking weather condi# ons
In winter, ba% eries have a reduced capacity. During a period
of light frost, the capacity is roughly 75' of the normal
capacity. At temperatures below -5*C (23°F) this will be
roughly 50'. This will reduce your range of ac" on.
WARNING
Avoid wearing loose cu& s/sleeves when opera" ng joys" ck as
the joys" ck could get caught and uninten" onally ac" vate the
device.
WARNING
If the foot plate rubs on the + oor during use please be aware
this may make the front edge sharp and therefore lead to
injury. Therefore handle with care and replace the footrest if it
becomes sharp.
