Themechanicalstabilizationfeatureimprovesimage
stabilitybycompensatingforvesselmotionand
keepingthecameraaimedatthepointofinterest.
Mechanicalstabilizationhastwoaspects:horizontal
(azimuth)andvertical(elevation).Bydefault,
mechanicalstabilizationissettoon,whichprovides
thebeston-the-waterperformanceparticularlywhen
thevesselisunderwayandtravelingonrough
waterorinswellconditions.Youcandisableor
enablestabilizationwheneveryouwant.Whenyou
enablefullstabilization(horizontalandvertical),the
StabilizationOn(nowave)iconashes.Itdoes
notdisplaycontinually,sincethisisthenormal
modeofoperation.Ifyoudisablestabilization,the
StabilizationOff(wave)iconremainsonthescreen
tomakeyouawarethatthemotionofthevesselcan
affectthecameraperformance.Thisisnotanormal
modeofoperation.Stabilizationisautomatically
turnedoffwhenthecameraisstowed,butthe
systemrestoresyoursettingwhenthecamerais
poweredon.Youcanturnoffthehorizontal(pan)
stabilizationwhileretainingthetiltstabilizationby
enablingpointmode.

Stabilizationisenabledbydefault.Youcanenable
ordisablestabilizationatanytimebyfollowingthe

Thermalcamerapointmode
Pointmodeisonlyapplicabletothermalcameras
whichhavemechanicalstabilization.
Enablingpointmodeonlyhassignicancewhen
stabilizationisenabled.Enablingpointmodeturns
offthehorizontal(pan)stabilizationwhileretaining
thevertical(tilt)stabilization.Thiscanbehelpful
whenyouwanttousethethermalcameraasanaide
tonavigationandkeepthecamerapointinginthe
samepositionrelativetothevesselasitturns.For
example,youmayhavestabilizationenabledand
havesetthecameratopointstraightaheadrelative
tothefrontofthevessel.Ifthevesselisturnedat
asharpangleundertheseconditions,thecamera
sensorwillnotfollowthedirectionofthevessel.
Enablingpointmodekeepsthecamerainsync
withthevesseldirectionwhilemaintainingastable
elevationposition.Whenpointmodeisenabled,a
lockicondisplays.Thecamera’sazimuthposition
isnowlockedtothebase.Whenyoudisablepoint
mode,theunlockicondisplaysmomentarily.The
cameraalwaysstartsupwithpointmodedisabled.
