Rear seat belt reminder, long
chassis version
(depending on the vehicle)
The 8 or 9 graphic is displayed on the
instrument panel when the vehicle ig-
nition is switched on. This informs the
driver of the fastening status of each of
the rear seat belts every time:
– opening a door;
– a rear seat belt is fastened/unfas-
tened;
– a seat is removed/refitted ➥ 3.44.
Reading the 8 or 9 graphic,
depending on the vehicle:
– indicator green: seatbelt fastened;
– indicator in red: the seat is occupied
and the seat belt is not fastened;
– grey symbol: seat not occupied;
– white cross: the seat has been re-
moved from the vehicle or has not
been electrically reconnected to
the vehicle or there is a fault with
the seat's connection to the vehicle

The
ß warning light on the central
display also appears when the ignition
is switched on, if a rear seat is occupied
and the seat belt is not fastened.
When the vehicle speed is less than
approximately 12 mph (20 km/h), the
warning light
ß on the central dis-
play appears if a rear seat is occupied
and the seat belt is not fastened. It is ac-
companied by the 8 or 9 graphic which
appears for approximately 60 seconds
each time one of the rear seat belts is
fastened or unfastened.
When the vehicle speed exceeds
12 mph (20 km/h), if one of the rear
seat belts is unfastened or becomes
unfastened during the journey:
– the warning light
ß flashes on
the central display;
and
– a beep sounds for around 120 sec-
onds;
and
– the 8 or 9 graphic is displayed for
approximately 180 seconds and
the symbol for the seat concerned
changes to red.
