Communication Interfaces
Computers communicate with the oscilloscope by sending and receiving messages
over an I/O port such as an USB, RS-232 port or GPIB. Commands appear as ASCII
character strings embedded inside the output statements of a “host” language
available on your computer.
Basic operations that you can do with a computer and an oscilloscope include:
Set up the oscilloscope.
Make measurements.
Retrieve data (waveforms or measurements) from the oscilloscope.
