Blood Sampling
Safety Precautions
Here are some very important guidelines for safety when using
Roche Diagnostics products.
When taking blood samples always:
Wear protective gloves
Dispose of ‘sharps’ safely
Please refer to your local protocol for full safety guidelines.
Regulations concerning the handling of potentially infectious
material should always be observed when using Roche lancing
devices.
How to obtain a good blood sample
Accurate and reliable test results can only be gained if enough
blood is placed on the test strip. All Roche blood glucose test strips
are designed to work using very small blood volumes, however to
ensure you obtain enough blood and an uncontaminated sample
please follow the guidelines:
N.B. If using venous or arterial blood please ensure that the
appropriate collection tube is used (see test interferences).
If the blood is drawn from a venous or arterial line ensure
that the line is cleared before drawing off the sample.
