Important things to know
Roche Blood Glucose meters can be used only as a monitoring/
screening tool and should not be used in the following conditions:
• In the acute management of unstable diabetic states i.e. diabetic
ketoacidosis, hyperosmolar non-ketotic coma, hypoglycaemia
• To make a diagnosis of diabetes mellitus
• To make a diagnosis of hypoglycaemia
• Where the observed result is not in keeping with the patient’s
clinical status
In these circumstances diagnosis and treatment decisions should
only be made after laboratory confirmation of screening results.
