Reader Operation

4. Reader Operation
Upon power-on reset, the unit searches for the presence of a secured
intelligent power supply. If a secured intelligent power supply is not
detected, it is automatically configured as a reader, as indicated by
one short beep.
The use of a proximity card is for the AYC-Q64 model only.
4.1 Standby Mode
The default mode of the reader is Standby mode. In Standby mode,
the unit is ready to receive data from a presented proximity card or an
entered PIN code.
When the reader is in Standby mode, the left LED
is red and the right LED is off.
When a proximity card is presented or a keypad
entry is being transmitted, the left LED flashes
green.
Keyboard data can be sent via one of eight keypad transmission
formats (see Section 4.2.3).
Proximity cards presented to the reader are always sent in either
Wiegand 26-Bit, Clock & Data or, Wiegand Card + PIN format (see
Section 4.2.4).
4.2 Programming as a Reader
Programming is done solely via the unit's keypad driven Programming
Menu System. During the manufacturing process, certain codes and
settings are pre-programmed. These settings are called the default
factory settings.
