15 Display with operating
controls
Shows details about beverage prepara-
tion and the menu. The buttons have
the function shown on the respective
display.
5. Switching on for the rst time
When you switch your device on for the rst time, it asks you for some basic
settings.
1. Plug the mains plug into the outlet.
2. Switch the device on with the on/off switch.
 The display shows the text "SEVERIN“ and then:
PLEASE SELECT LANGUAGE
3. Turn the e-Select until the desired language is shown and conrm it by
pressing the e-Select.
NOTE!
If you have accidentally selected the wrong
language, you can change the setting later on (►
“7.3.1 Language”) and (► “7.3.5 Resetting the
device”).
 The display shows:
PLEASE SELECT WATER HARDNESS
4. Check the water hardness on a tap using the water hardness test strip.
To do this, proceed according to the enclosed description of the test
strips.
5. Use the e-Select to select the water hardness and conrm your entry.
 The display shows:
USE WATER FILTER?
6. Rinse the water tank thoroughly with water.
7. If desired, use the insertion aid to insert the water lter into the water
tank (g. 2) and remove insertion aid again.
