Distance between switching points: Tolerance around the background (twice the config‐
ured tolerance value)
The safety-related information of this function (request of function yes/no) can be
provided via the digital outputs (signal level Low/High) as well as in the process data via
the IO-Link interface.
Status Digital output Status bit (bit0 or bit1) in the
IO-Link process data
Active (safety-related) Low Static 0
Deactivated High Logical 1
3.7.6 Safety-related normalized measurement function (increasing behavior)
The analog current output provides a continuous output of current values representing
a measured value within a defined distance range. The scaling can be configured in
the range from 4mA to 20mA. In contrast to the decreasing behavior, the increasing
behavior can be used in a safety-related manner.

The signal to initiate or maintain the safety-related state is a level of ≤3.5mA. The
prerequisite for this is the setting of the “Clamp” behavior when no measurement is
possible. The “Hold” setting is not recommended for safety-related use as there is no
immediate detection of an error condition.
Status Analog current output
Operational status Measured values in the range between 4mA
and 20mA
Error condition ≤ 3.5mA as well as ≥ 20.5mA depending on
the error case
Safety-related state ≤ 3.5mA
3.7.7 Safety-related measurement function
The current distance value is continuously output in the process data via the IO-Link
data interface (resolution 1mm). The measured value is provided via IO-Link as a
14-bit number. The signal to initiate or maintain the safety-related state is represented
by the value of 0 in the 14-bit process data field. The prerequisite for this is the setting
