9.3 Indications of the 7-segment display
9.4 Detailed error analysis
The LMS1xx outputs occurring errors in various ways. Errors are output in stages and always
permit detailed analysis:
 Communication errors can occur on the transfer of telegrams to the LMS1xx. The
LMS1xx then returns an error code.
 In case of status errors occurring during a scan, error codes are written to a status log.
9.4.1 Field evaluation monitor
Using the field evaluation monitor, you can analyse whether and how evaluation fields are
infringed and how the outputs on the LMS1xx behave.

9.4.2 Field evaluation logging
Using the field evaluation logging you can log, save and subsequently play back the ope-
ration of LMS1xx. It is used for diagnostics over extended periods and for the analysis of
malfunctions or for the optimization of processes.

9.5 SICK Support
If an error cannot be eliminated, it is possible that the LMS1xx is defective.
The LMS1xx cannot be repaired by the user, meaning that it is not possible to re-establish
functions after a failure cannot be repaired by the user, meaning that it is not possible to re-
establish functions after a failure. Interrupting or modifying the LMS1xx will invalidate any
warranty claims against SICK AG.
However, the LMS1xx can be rapidly replaced by the user, see section 8.2 “Exchanging an
LMS1xx” on page 87.
 If an error occurs which cannot be eliminated, please contact SICK Support. Please
