The elevation angle (vertical angle) of a beam is designated phi and is measured
relative to the x-y plane:

Elevation angle < 0 is above the x-y plane, i.e., for positive z-values
•
Elevation angle > 0 is below the x-y plane, i.e., for negative z-values
The data is always output in the device coordinate system, not in the world coordinate
system.
