8 Testing the configuration
We recommend that you test the connections during the configuration process so
you can more easily narrow down the cause of any problems. This is because you
may have problems in runtime where no error message is generated.
8.1 Checking NK82xx connection(s)
Verify that the NK82xx(s) communicate with the DMS8000 system
This needs to be done from the host station.
Check that each NK82xx communicates with the DMS8000 system.
The check will depend on the type of system.
MM8000 shows the link status of a network unit as Reachable or Not
reachable. In case of communication failure, a Fault event is generated,
and all the data point conditions that cannot be aligned with field status
(belonging to the NK8000 units, and to the subsystems connected through
those units) becomes grey to indicate that are no longer reliable.
MK8000 reports the link status of each unit on one of the OPC objects. The
OPC client then presents that condition to the users.
To correct communication failure(s), see Maintenance and diagnostics [➙ 60], with
resolutions to some common problems detailed in section The NK8000
maintenance and diagnostic tools [➙ 61].
