3.12 Connecting the Field PG P4 to a SIMATIC S7 Network
(MPI/DP)
Connecting an S7 Programmable Controller via an MPI/DP Interface
You can use the potential-separated*) MPI/DP interface to connect the SIMATIC
Field PG P4 to a SIMATIC S7 programmable controller or to a PROFIBUS
network. The MPI patch cord (5m) for connecting to SIMATIC S7-CPUs (Order
no.: 6ES7901-0BF00-0AA0) is included in the consignment. The data transfer rate
is limited to 187.5 Kbit/s when using this patch cord. For baud rates > 1.5 Mbit/s
you must use a PROFIBUS cable for 12 Mbit/s (Order no. 6ES7901-4BD00-0XA0).
