6.3 Configuring the 3RW5 Soft Starter
Note
Setting via the local interface and on the 3RW5 HMI High Feature
Setting of the IP parameters via the station address via the local interface and on the
3RW5
HMI High Feature is always possible, even if no corresponding Modbus connection is
available.
Modbus TCP
A requirement for communication via Modbus TCP is that the IP parameters (Page 77) are
set in the 3RW5 communication module.
Possible procedures for configuration can be found in chapters

(Page 73) and Configuring 3RW5 soft starters with the aid of a 3RW5 HMI High Feature
(Page 75).
Modbus RTU
A requirement for communication via Modbus RTU is that the station address (Page 82) is
set in the 3RW5 communication module.

6.3.1 Configuring the 3RW5 soft starter in the Modbus TCP system
6.3.1.1 Configuring 3RW5 soft starters without assistance from a 3RW5 HMI High Feature
This section describes a possible configuration of the 3RW5 soft starter which you can only
carry out via the Modbus TCP client or the configuration software of the controller. You do
not need a 3RW5 HMI High Feature for this configuring option.
Requirements
● Connection of the 3RW5 soft starter via Modbus TCP
● Switched on control supply voltage on the 3RW5 soft starter
● Any IP parameters currently stored in the 3RW5 Modbus TCP communication module
must be known.
The factory settings (default) of the IP parameters are listed in chapter
Modbus TCP communication parameters (Page 176).
